Pedestrian Killed By Hit-Run Driver In Laurel (Developing)

A hit-and-run driver who killed a man in Prince George's County overnight is at large, and now the police are on the hunt for the motorist.

At approximately 8:10 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, officers were called to the 9000 block of Contee Road in Laurel, where they found a pedestrian - who has not been identified pending the notification of his family - suffering from traumatic injuries in the roadway.

The man was rushed to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators say that the driver of an unidentified vehicle was traveling eastbound on Contee Road, when for unknown reasons, they struck the pedestrian before speeding away from the area. They are working now to determine the make and model of the vehicle in an effort to identify the driver.

The crash remains under investigation.
